2984 butterfly bush and a Monarch show casing its wings. All they do is flap and you are caught in that Magic spell and allure of autumn and fall....

great shot, all the ones I see around here always have their wings closed when they land, I never get an open wing shot

Thanks, yes most of the shots of this guy are closed. Waited and had to time it when it flapped them. I was lucky he held still on the butterfly bush usually they move to quick so getting the wings open was lucky.

Thank you, it was just amazing when he showed up there were two, I couldn't quite get them together. But its not often I get them in my yard. There is a beach that they kind of pass near and I saw so many last October. I can't wait to see if they return again. There had to be hundreds last fall.

It was incredible. Some of my shots of monarchs on goldenrod are from the day. There were so many I was so close and they just surrounded me. I have never seen anything quite like it. It was like timing was everything and meant to find all those monarchs and elsewhere people had no clue there were hundreds on butterflies in one place. It was really cool and like a deserted garden, and just a few lucky people who probably got to witness it.
